We started with an off-leash interior search, which was designed to encourage the dogs to work the perimeter. There were 6 paired hides placed in boxes along the perimeter. If the dog returned to a box we were to reward them, otherwise they got the pairing food - which was several pieces. Gimme did an amazing job at this - she was very no nonsense. Unfortunately, even though I brought my camera and gave it to Dorothy - she forgot to take it out of her pocket.
Skipping ahead to our third search - it was the same search, but on leash. This Dorothy did tape and the comment about being almost out of battery was her messing with me because she also forgot to take it out of her pocket for the second search (exterior). Interior search 2 video Gimme did a very nice job with this search - getting all six hides in 1 minute. She was very efficient. This is very similar to how she did the search when she was off-leash.
Our second search of class was an exterior along a long line of construction fencing. There were 5 hides, one on every other fencing support. We were to walk them up and down the line, rewarding any they indicated, but if they passed one we were to let them go on by.
For some reason Gimme chose to skip the first, third and fourth hides. She got the second and fifth hides. Then on the way back she got all five. Gimme often catalogs hides, noting them as she goes by but not indicating them - as if she is saving them for later. Since she had no way of knowing she could have been rewarded twice for each hide, she had no reason to alter her strategy. She was very fast.
