Urban Tracking (143)

On Thursday, June 20th, Nadine and I met at Game Farm. We talked about our lesson with Sil. Since Gimme continues to overrun corners, Nadine wanted to try an exercise she said Sil used for that purpose (he's never suggested it to me and he knows she chronically passes corners). It's a track composed of sharp switchback corners. So she set it for us and we ran it at about 45 minutes, in bright sun, about 65ยบ.

Gimme did not do very well at this. She seemed so unfocused. She got through it, but it wasn't pretty and she needed help to do so.  Before we even started we found one article (an eyeglass case) on a picnic table as we were walking to the start. So the light blue dot shows were it was originally. In hindsight perhaps the person who found and moved it was out on the field with a dog or something, making it a more distracting contaminated track than usual. I might want to do this again, but just one or two acute angle turns, instead of a whole track full of them.

I didn't know what was going on with her at the time, but she'd been very whiny and cranky in the car. Later she told me she missed Lenny-baby. She's out of her false pregnancy, so I'd stopped bringing him along. It's been two weeks now and she's continues to be whiny and needy. Bringing Lenny-baby helps, but only a little.

This week Dr. Powell was at Pawsabilities, so I asked him to check her over. He gave her a thorough twice-over and everything was great. He was pressing hard all down her neck and back and she didn't react anywhere. He checked her for full range of motion in all her joints and did a strong tail-pull maneuver and all was well. There was nothing amiss until he checked her feet and toes and got to her left front foot. The two center toes were really painful. She let him check them, but she was obviously very concerned (she still won't let me touch them). He didn't find anything he could adjust and she's not limping, but they are clearly still very sore. I've been trying to do energy work on them to relieve pain and promote healing, but she's not very cooperative.

This does explain some things I'd noticed. There's a couple of times she has squealed and run from the room for no apparent reason. She screamed like a banshee when I gently grabbed her left front foot to disentangle it from my bracelet two weeks ago. Once on a walk she cried out and flattened herself to the ground, again no apparent reason. Overall she's been uncertain and needy. I think the toes may always ache, but sometimes they hurt with a sharp pain. Naturally she doesn't understand and thinks something is "biting her toes". She doesn't know what the something is, hence the uncertainty. We are resting this week and I'm doing energy work on them when she'll let me.
